How to use Videowise's Video Editor – Videowise

To open Videowise's video editor, click on any of your videos, and on the top right, click on “Video Editor”.

Setting options

Our Video editor comes with different options that can help you achieve advanced video editing for images and videos in your Videowise library.

Background color

You can change the video background colour using the colour tooltip on the top bar. If your videos are not the same format as

Video Format

When creating a video, you can select the output format that best fits the platform you’re publishing to. Our editor currently supports the following preset aspect ratios:

YouTube (16:9) – Standard widescreen format, best for YouTube and most desktop viewing.

Instagram (1:1) – Square format, ideal for Instagram feed posts.

Twitter (2:1) – Wide landscape format commonly used on Twitter/X.

TikTok (9:16) – Vertical format designed for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

Custom resolution – Manually set your own aspect ratio or size for more flexibility.

The first time you add an asset (such as a video or image), the editor will automatically adjust the project format to match the asset’s resolution. You can always change the format afterward, but the initial asset overrides the preset or default format.

Exporting Videos

Once you are done editing your video, you have two options to export them into your Videowise library, by clicking on "Export media as" on the top right:

New video: This will create a new video in your library, with a default prefix of "AI Generated - …".

Replace video: This will replace the latest media added to your project by the exported video.

We highly recommend choosing "New video" if you don't want to loose any of your previous uploaded/saved asset.

Add assets to your project

Media

To add media to your project, click on "Media" on the left sidebar. This will prompt a modal with the Videowise library where you can choose one media at a time.

You can add as many media as you want to your project.

Once a media is added, it will automatically be added to the timeline of your project.

You can stack up your assets on top of the other, or you can place them on the same layer in order to place transitions between them.

Layers

Like mentioned above, assets (such as videos, images, text, subtitles) will stack up on your timeline project using layers. Each asset can be dragged & dropped to the layer of your liking.

If you are looking to add transitions between two assets, they will need to be on the same layer.

Video Editor presets

Alongside your video and image media, you can enhance your project by using our default editing assets: built-in tools designed to help you communicate, animate, and organise your content more clearly. Here's what’s available:

Text

Add titles and captions to your video.

There are two types of text assets you can use:

Customizable Title:

A simple, non-animated text block.

Fully customizable: adjust font, size, colour, position, and more.

Ideal for labels, lower thirds, or fixed on-screen text.

Animated Title Presets:

Pre-styled titles with built-in entrance and exit animations.

Drag and drop them into your timeline; they appear as separate text layers.

Perfect for eye-catching intros or section headers.

💡 Tip: You can edit both types directly on the canvas or through the side panel, as well as apply effects, filters to some of them.

Transitions

Smoothly connect two clips or images with visual transitions.

Transitions can only be added between two clips on the same layer.

Options may include fades, slides, wipes, and more.

Great for enhancing flow and creating polished cuts.

How to use:

Place two assets side-by-side on the same timeline layer.

Open the Transitions panel and drag a transition between them.

To remove a transition, click it and hit the Delete key.

Transitions will not work between assets that are stacked on different layers.

Subtitles

Add subtitles to make your video more accessible or multilingual. You can subtitle your video in two ways:

Manual Subtitling

Add subtitles directly in the editor using a timestamp + text interface.

Great for custom control over subtitle timing and formatting.

Upload an SRT File

Import an .srt subtitle file for fast, automated subtitle placement.

The system will create a subtitle layer and auto-sync the text using your timestamps.

Once added:

Subtitles appear in their own timeline layer.

Text will update and display automatically based on the timestamps you set (or from your SRT).

Media presets

Volume

Adjust the audio level of your selected video clip.

How to use:

Click on your video in the timeline.

In the sidebar, select Volume.

Drag the slider to increase or decrease the volume, from 0 to 1.

Set to 0 to mute the clip completely.

Filters

Apply visual styles to your video or image to change the mood or aesthetic.

Available Filters: Grayscale, Sepia, Invert, Solarize, Dramatic, Bright, Cold, and more.

How to use:

Select a clip in the timeline.

Choose Filters from the sidebar.

Click on any filter to preview and apply it instantly.

Effects

Enhance your media with dynamic visual effects that add flair to your project. Add glow, blur, or other visual enhancements to emphasise a specific part of your clip.

How to use:

Click the clip on the timeline.

Select Effects in the sidebar.

Browse and apply available effects.

Effects may vary depending on the type of media selected.

Animation

Add entrance or exit animations to your media elements for smoother visual transitions.

Animation Categories:

In: Animations for how the element enters the screen (e.g., Fade In, Slide Up).

Out: Animations for how it exits the screen.

Loop: Animations that repeat continuously while the element is visible.

Use Case: Use Fade In for a soft appearance, or Slide Left to create dynamic movement.

How to use:

Select your media in the timeline.

Click Animation in the sidebar.

Choose from In, Out, or Loop tabs.

Click on an animation to preview and apply it.

💡 Tip: You can combine filters, effects, and animations to create unique visual styles for your content.
